Wrestling

The Modified Wrestling team had their best match of the year against a very strong New Rochelle team.  The Horsemen finished the day with 12 wins and 10 losses.  The match was very even throughout, but the key to victory was the 4 wins by Landon Becker-Parton and Mike Segarra (2 wins each).  Overall, the Horsemen had a very impressive outing against a much larger team in the Huguenots.  Join the Horsemen as they travel to Ardsley on Friday February 2nd at 4:15pm.  (posted 2/5/07)

The Modified Wrestling team played host to Mamaroneck and Mark Twain on Thursday January 25th.  The horsemen wrestled hard in front of a large crowd.  Key victories were had by Ryan Becker (2 Wins), Ignacio Mejias, Christian Zhinin, and Mike Segarra.  Please join us at home again on Tuesday January 29th versus a tough New Rochelle team.  (posted 2/5/07)

The Modified Wrestling team visited 7 Bridges Middle School of Chappaqua on January 18th.  The Horsemen faced off against 7 Bridges and Bronxville.  Mac McGovern and Diego Tenesaca each came away with their first victories of the season.  Both have continued to improve, and are beginning to wrestle at a very good level.  The team came away with 10 victories on the evening and 8 defeats.   The overall record of the wrestlers to this point of the season is 39 Wins and 34 Loses.  Come see the young Horsemen host Mamaroneck and Commerce on Thursday January 25th at 4:15pm in the High School gym.   (posted 1/23/07)

The Modified Wrestling team continues to impress with another great meet.  This time the Horsemen hosted the Harrison Huskies on January 16th.  The Horsemen finished the night with 10 victories and 9 defeats.  The team was led by our light and middle weights (under 130 Lbs.).  There were some great matches by 8th grader Tim Rachlin, Dennis Maloy, Nick Fanelli, Tom Carraro, and 7th graders Ryan Becker and Pablo Loja.  Mike Segarra, Landon Becker Parton register 2 wins each.  Come see us at 7 Bridges Middle School in Chappaqua on January 18th.  (posted 1/23/07)

The Modified Wrestling team visited Irvington on January 12th.  With Irvington,

Bronxville, Ardsley, and Sleepy Hollow in attendance, the Horsemen had another strong

outing.  With a total of 17 matches, the young Horsemen team came away with 9 wins

and 8 defeats.  The team was led by some of our lighter weight wrestlers (under 100 lbs.)

Ryan Becker, Pablo Loja, and Christian Zhinin.  8th grader Dennis Maloy had a dramatic

victory over an Irvington wrestler.  The next match is Home vs. Harrison on January 16th.  (posted 1/23/07)

The Varsity Wrestling team suffered a 48-13 defeat on January 4th against an experienced deep Nanuet team.  Despite some victories, including an outstanding performance by first year 103 pound Chris Lopez, a young Sleepy Hollow team made mistakes against ranked opponents that eventually cost them the match.  As a whole, the team’s intensity was not where it needed to be and it showed.  However, Sleepy Hollow is learning from its mistakes and is eager to prove itself in upcoming matches.  (posted 1/12/07)

The Sleepy Hollow Varsity Wrestling team won their first away match of the season on December 19th in a close fight against large school Rye 38-35.  Led by senior captains Dennis Bencosme and jean Patino (who both obtained maximum points with a pin), Sleepy Hollow obtained a much needed boost from first year wrestlers Kenny Marte and Chris Lopez.  With a solid effort all around, ah was able to secure a victory.  (posted 1/12/07)

The Modified Wrestling team got off to a fast start on Tuesday, January 9th.  The Horsemen visited Edgemont, with Woodlands and Ardsley also in attendance.  With a group of 24 young wrestlers, Sleepy Hollow got off to a fast start winning 7 of their first 8 matches.  The intensity on the mat was very high, with all wrestlers feeling prepared and eager to wrestle after a long pre-season.  The 8th grade leadership is very strong; many of them leading purely by example.  Our 7th graders also contributed with several key victories.  This should be a very good season for our team.  Our next match is on Friday, January 12th at Irvington.  GO HORSEMEN!  (posted 1/11/07)

On Thursday, December 14th, the Varsity Wrestling team had an exciting victory over Croton-Harmon High School with a score of 73-6.  A big win for Sleepy was when David Martinez defeated Frank Tedesco with a 2-1 score.  Sleepy Hollow not only won as a team but some individuals stood out with outstanding matches.  Jean Patino, Ryan Tompkins, Nick Carraro and Petey Delmonico all won by pinning their competitors.  This was a great way to start the season and hopefully there will be many more victories to follow.  Out next match is on Tuesday December 19th at Rye.  (Posted 12/18/06)
