Swimming The SHEDI swim team lost their last dual meet of the season to Suffern yesterday at Marymount Pool with a score of 76-86. The team was excited and energized for their meet, as it was also the last meet for the graduating seniors. Sleepy Hollow seniors include Jocylen Roberts, Maureene King, Bridget Gomez, and Anellia Erstling. We wish our swimmers good luck as they host the Divisional meet this Saturday at Marymount College starting at 9:00am. (posted 10/26/06) The SHEDI Girls’ Swim team lost yesterday to Division 1 powerhouse Bronxville 87-75. The girls are continuing to work towards personal best times in their events and making Sectional cut times. Stand out swims yesterday included 7th grader Victoria Nadile in the 50 freestyle getting her personal best and 7th grader Alexia Boumis doing a great job in the 50 butterfly in the 200 Medley Relay. SHEDI will be swimming at Purchase Friday, October 20th against Horace Greeley. (posted 10/19/06) The combined SHEDI (Sleepy Hollow/Edgemont/Irvington) girls swim team had a tough meet last night against Westlake at PACE University. They fought hard in the water, but fell short with a score of 89-74. Many of the swimmers had personal best times including Senior Captain Maureene King in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Senior/Captain Jocylen Roberts in the 100 butterfly, and 8th grader Victoria Nadile in the 50 freestyle. The girls are training hard at practices and looking forward to a busy spirit week next week with meets against Brewster on Wednesday, October 11th and Bronxville on Friday, October 13th. Please come out and support the SHEDI swim team at their next home meet on 10/13/06. (posted 10/4/06) The combined SHEDI swim team swam an incredible meet yesterday where the winning team was decided in the last two races! John Jay took the lead winning the 200 Medley Relay, but Sleepy Hollow/Edgemont/Irvington kept fighting and took 1st and 2nd in the 200 Freestyle catching up and tying. 7th grade sensation Alexia Boumis took 3rd in the 50 Free, while Senior Captain Bridget Gomez took 2nd in the 100 free. It was a battle to the finish and the SHEDI team did a great job, swam well, and didn't give up the entire meet! The finals score was John Jay 90.5, SHEDI 79.5. Great job ladies and congratulations on an exciting and nail biting competition! Our next meet is on Monday, October 3rd vs. Westlake at Pace University at 5pm. (posted 9/28/06) The SHEDI swim team lost a close one to the Mamaroneck Tigers yesterday afternoon at the Homoccks pool 93-81. Senior Jocylen Roberts swam a personal best in the 50 free, while 7th grade sensation Alexis Boumis finished 2nd in the 100 Freestyle. Come cheer on the girls as they take on John Jay Cross River next Wednesday, September 27th at Marymount starting at 4:30pm. (posted 9/22/06) The Sleepy Hollow/Irvington/Edgemont swimming team lost it's opening meet to Ursuline this past Friday. 7th grader Alexia Boumis had a personal best in the 50 free with a time of 29.41and Kerry Oliveira finished 3rd in the 100 Breastroke. The team also traveled to Owego NY to compete in a meet this past Saturday. There were over 10 teams competiting and it was a great experience for all swimmers. Kerry Oliveira had the strongest finish placing 17 out of 59 girls in the 100 Breastroke. Congratulations to the team. They will be swimming at Mamaroneck on Thursday, September 21st at 6:00pm. Good luck to all swimmers! (posted 9/18/06) Congratulations to the Sleepy Hollow/Edgemont/Irvington swim team who competed in the 26th annual relay carnival at White Plaines high school last night. The 200 Breastroke relay finished 3rd, Bridget Gomez and Kerry Oliveira were members of the relay. It was a great start to a new season. Over 15 girls competed last night and there were several personal best times, including Alexia Boumis in the 200 Freestyle relay with a time of 29.24. Congratulations to all!
