Softball

Congratulations to the varsity softball team on their exciting opening round sectional win over Pleasantville 3 – 0.  Christine Angevine pitched a four hitter with six strikeouts to record her sixth shutout of the season.  Lindsay Zekus, Allaire Primiano, and Danielle Fanelli were each two for three at the plate.  Seniors Lauren Downing and Katie Mackay both made great defensive plays and had key hits to clinch the victory. 

The team advances to the sectional quarterfinals on Monday, May 30th at Eastchester at 4:30. (Posted 5/30/2006)


Varsity Softball: Sleepy Hollow Advances to Sectional Quarterfinals!

Sleepy Hollow Softball Seeded 5th for Tournament
Congratulations to the varsity softball team who has been awarded the 5th seed for the sectional softball tournament.  The team will face the 12th seed, Pleasantville, tomorrow at 4:30 here on the Sleepy Hollow softball field.

Varsity Softball
On Tuesday, May 23rd the varsity softball completed their regular season games with 4 – 2 win over Nanuet.  They finished second in their league with an overall record of 15 wins and 7 losses.  The team takes a 10 game winning streak into sectionals, which begin here at Sleepy Hollow on Friday, May 24th.  Christine Angevine pitched the victory striking out 5 with no walks.  (Posted 5/25/2006)


Modified Softball
The Modified girls softball team defeated Port Chester Middle school on Monday, May 22nd with a score of 25 – 0.  Jennifer Angevine, and Cassandra Torres pitched outstanding.  Jessica Bucci hit a double and Sara Camlic played excellent.  Once again, everyone contributed to this win!

The Modified softball team had their 3rd loss of the season to White Plains Middle School on Tuesday, May 23rd with a score of 11- 5.  Cassandra Torres pitched an outstanding game.  Charlotte Frank, Gianna Volpe, and Brittany Brand played very well.  Jessica Bucci hit an outstanding shot to the outfield and went 3 – 4.  The next game is scheduled for tomorrow May 25th at Devries Field against Rye Middle School.  GO HOLLOW!

Lindsay Zekus was 2 for 2, stole a base and scored two runs.  Allaire Primiano had two RBI’s and scored a run. Senior Katie Oliveira had the game clinching RBI driving in Deanne Lindsay in the bottom of the sixth.

The entire team played great defense committing only one error in seven innings.  Thanks to all who came out to support the team and we would love to see you all on Friday as we “go for a sectional title”.   (Posted 5/25/2006)


Varsity Softball
The varsity softball team swept a double header from Irvington on Saturday night May 20th at Losee Park with scores of 18 – 0 and 24 – 11.  Christine Angevine pitched a one hit five innings shut out in the first game recording 9 strikeouts.  Deanne Lindsay and Allaire Primiano also struck out nine as they combined to pitch the victory in the second game.  Senior captain Lauren Downing led the evenings hitting with 6 hits in nine at bats, 3 RBI’s, and 7 runs scored.  Deanne Lindsay was 5 for 8 with 4 RBI’s and 4 runs scored.  Lindsay Zekus had 4 hits, 7 RBI’s, and scored 6 runs. Danielle Fanelli had a homerun and 3 hits for the night driving in 3 and scoring 4 and Nora Carney was 3 for 6 with 3 runs scored.  The teams next game is Monday, May 22nd at home against Bronxville at 4:30pm.  On Tuesday, May 23rd at 4:30 the team will face Nanuet at home in the final regular season game.  Please come out and  assist us in honoring our three seniors, Lauren Downing, Katie Mackay, and Kaitlin Oliveira as they play there last regular season game at Sleepy.  (Posted 5/22/2006)


Congratulations To Girls’ Softball – First Time In Sectional Tournament In Over A Dozen Years  AND Christine Angevine Pitches First No-Hitter In The History Of Sleepy Hollow
On May 18, 2006, the varsity girls’ softball team defeated Dobbs Ferry 12 – 0 to record their 11th  win of the season and guarantee a trip to the sectional softball tournament.  Christine Angevine pitched her first varsity career no- hitter, striking out nine.
Allaire Primiano hit a two run homer over the fence, was 3 for 4 and drove in two runs.  Lindsay Zekus and Danielle Fanelli were both 3 for 3 at the plate, had an RBI and scored 3 and 2 runs respectively. Deanne Lindsay and Olga Thomas had two hits each.  Tonight the team will attempt to add to their six game winning streak with a double header at Losee Field against Irvington.  Scheduled game times are 5:30 and 7:30.

Varsity Softball
The varsity softball team recorded their tenth win of the season on Wednesday, May 18th with a 13 – 5 win over Nanuet.  Chelsea Schoen led the team’s 15 hit attack going 4 for 4 with a double while scoring two runs and getting 3 RBI’s.  Allaire Primiano added a home run and a triple with 4 RBI’s. Deanne Lindsay was 3 for 4 and Lindsay Zekus and Lauren Downing added two hits each.  Christine Angevine pitched the victory, recording 8 strikeouts.  The team’s next game is home on Thursday, May 18th against Dobbs Ferry at 4:30 as they look to get a win and clinch a sectional birth.  The team greatly appreciates your support and invites everyone out for a great Friday night double header against cross-town rival Irvington at Losee Park.  The games will be played at 5:30 and 7:30.  (Posted 5/18/2006)


Modified Softball
On Wednesday, May 3rd and Monday, May 8th, the Modified girls softball team defeated Woodlands Middle school.  Wednesday’s score was 21- 0 and Mondays score was 8-1.  Cassandra Torres and Jennifer Angevine both pitched outstanding games.  The girls have improved their record to 4 – 2.  They are looking forward to playing Mamaroneck on Friday, May 12th at Mamaroneck and Harrison on Monday, May 15th.  Good Luck!  (Posted 5/16/2006)


Varsity Softball
On Wednesday, May 10th the varsity softball team won their fourth game in a row beating Woodlands 6 – 0.  Birthday girl Christine Angevine and Deanne Lindsay combined to pitch the two hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.  Lindsay Zekus hit a home run and a double, drove in two runs, scored two runs and stole a base.  Christine and Deanne both had two hits and scored a run to help get the win.  Tough defense was played by the entire team with great plays made by Lauren Downing and Cassie Lynch.  Thanks again for the great support at Losee Park.  The team’s next game is Friday, May 12th at Irvington at 8PM.  (Posted 5/11/2006)

Monday, May 8th            the softball team won its 3rd game in a row with victory over Pelham 9 – 2.              Christine Angevine pitched a 3 hitter striking out four.  Allaire Primiano and Lauren Downing both went 3 for 4 and Danielle Fanelli had two hits and drove in two runs. Modified Baseball
On Monday, May 8, 2006 in their sixth game of the season, the Sleepy Hollow Middle School baseball team was defeated by the Ossining B team 8-2.

Varsity Softball

The softball team lost a tough extra inning game on Saturday night at Losee Park to Albertus Magnus 7 – 4.  Allaire Primiano had two hits with 3 RBI’s and Katie MacKay added two hits and scored a run.  Christine Angevine pitched an outstanding game recording 9 strikeouts and no walks. 

Thanks to the big crowd that came out to support the team.

The team greatly appreciates all the work that Mr. Downing and the rec. department did in preparing the field and hosting the wonderful evening. Also a special thank you to  Lindsay Zekus’s grandma, for all her support and for throwing out the first pitch.

The softball team evened their record to 5 and 5 with a win over Bronxville 14 – 10 on Thursday, April 27th.  Christine Angevine , Deanne Lindsay, and Allaire Primiano combined for the victory.  Christine, Allaire, Deanne, and Lauren Downing had two hits each and Deanne added 6 RBI’s. Lindsay Zekus continued her attack on the base paths stealing two bases and scoring three runs.

The next game is an important league game against Albertus Magnus at Losee Field at 6:30 on Saturday night.

Varsity Softball
On Wednesday, April 26th the varsity girls’ softball team beat Ramapo 9 -1.  Christine Angevine pitched the victory and contributed two hits and two RBI’s.  Lauren Downing drove in two runs and Allaire Primiano had two hits, two RBI’s and scored two runs.  Lindsay Zekus also added a hit, an RBI and scored two runs.  All played very good defense.  Our next game is Thursday, April 27th at Bronxville.  

Thanks to all who came out to support the team. Please support us in our first league game on Saturday, April 29th at Losee Field at 6:30 against rival Albertus Magnus.

On Tuesday, April 25th, the varsity girls’ softball team suffered a tough loss to undefeated Eastchester 4 – 3.  Allaire Primiano and Lindsay Zekus had two hits each scoring one and two runs respectively with great base running.  Christine Angevine had one hit with two RBI’s and pitched a good game, recording two strikeouts and only one walk.  Lauren Downing had a great defensive game with 3 put outs and 7 assists.

Please come out and the support the team on Wednesday, April 26th in a home game against Ramapo.

Modified Softball
On Tuesday, April 25th, the girls’ modified softball team defeated Rye Middle School with a score of 29 – 0.  Everyone contributed to this first outstanding win.  Cassandra Torres and Jennifer Angevine pitched an outstanding game.  Everyone had outstanding hits at bat.  Sarah Fiegelson and  Kerry Oliveira played an excellent game and each had a single.  Keep up the good work!  Our next game is Friday, April 28th, 2006 at Devries Park at 4:15 against Mamaroneck Middle School.  (Posted 4/28/2006)


Modified Softball
The girls modified softball team was defeated by White Plains on Friday, April 21, 2006 by a score of 11 – 7.  They played a good game and worked very hard on the field.  We are improving every day and are looking forward to each game.

I am very satisfied with the improvements I have seen since day one.  These young ladies put forth a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication.  Our next home game is scheduled for Friday, April 28th, 2006 at Devries Field against Mamaroneck.


Varsity Softball
The varsity softball team defeated Hastings 15 – 5.  The entire team contributed in the sixteen hit performance.  Leading hitters were; Allaire Primiano, who went 4 for 5, with two doubles and a triple, scored four runs and had 3 RBI’s, Katie McKay who was 2 for 3, scored 2 runs, and had 2 RBI’s,  and Lindsay Zekus who hit 2 for 4, scored 3 runs, 2 RBI’s and stole 4 bases, including home twice.  Christine Angevine pitched an outstanding game striking out a season high eleven batters.  (Posted 4/20/2006)


Modified Softball
The Sleepy Hollow Modified Girls Softball team was defeated yesterday April 18th, 2006 at Harrison by a score of 6 – 3.  This is a great improvement considering they played the toughest team on the schedule and last years score against this team was 22 – 0.    Last season the Harrison team only gave up 2 runs for the entire season and outscored all of their opponents with a total of 132 runs.  Yesterday we broke the record by scoring 3 runs.  Many parents have complimented our team on their improvements and hard work on the field.  Cassandra Torres delivered speed from the mound and struck out some top players.  Jessica Bucci and Jennifer Angevine’s batting were outstanding.  Yasmil Abreu worked very hard in the outfield.  Please support us at our home opener at Devries Field on Friday April 21st, against White Plains.  (Posted 4/20/2006)

Modified Softball
The Sleepy Hollow Modified Girls' Softball Team is expected to have a great season this spring.  This is my first year coaching and I am very excited about the number of girls who have come out for the team.  We have some top returning eighth graders such as Jessica Bucci, who looks outstanding behind home plate, Charlotte Blank, who’s fielding is phenomenal, Nikki Shoen, Rebecca Sutherland, and Kathleen Perez, who are looking great defensively.  We also have some outstanding seventh graders taking the field.  Cassandra Torres and Jennifer Angevine are delivering speed from the pitcher's mound, and the quickness of Brittany Brand is a great asset.  All of our players are working very hard.  They are a wonderful group of girls.  Our first game is on Tuesday, April 18th at 4:15 in Harrison.  Our first home game will be at Devries Field on April 20th against White Plains.  Please come support the girl’s softball team.


The Sleepy Hollow Varsity Girls Softball Team has begun their season with great aspirations.  The team returns eleven varsity players with goals of improving on last year’s tremendous progress and qualifying for sectionals.  The ladies have all been practicing hard led by senior captain Lauren Downing and junior captain Christine Angevine who continue to be leaders in determination and consistency.  Commitment and purpose have been the driving forces of the team in early season practices led by seniors Kaitlin Oliveira and Katie McKay.  The team will open its twenty-two game schedule April 3rd against Hastings at home.
